Encapcos organic-based tall oil pitch and asphalt emulsions are used to immobilize a variety of contaminants in contaminated soil.  Unlike other fixation or stabilization technologies, which physically bind contaminants in the soil matrix, Encapcos emulsion is capable of chemically fixating metals such as lead.  Encapcos patented process employs a chemical binding reaction, in addition to macro encapsulation, to meet regulatory leaching tests.  The Encapco process has been evaluated on a number of contaminated materials and under various soil conditions.
